Carla Meskill is a Professor in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the University at Albany, State University of New York. Her research and teaching explore new forms of technology use in language education as well as the influences of new technologies on developing language and literacy practices. In tandem, her work explores the nature of electronic literacy and its centrality in teacher professional development. On these and related topics she has published widely. Dr. Meskill is the former director of the federally funded Technology Assisted Language Learning project, Training all Teachers project, the Language Advocacy Project and co-editor of (MERLOT). She currently serves as associate editor of Language Learning & Technology.

Lance Knowles heads research and product development at DynEd International, which is based in San Francisco. Since founding the company in 1987, he has pioneered the use of CALL, including the world’s first interactive multimedia course on CD-ROM, and the use of speech recognition technology for language learning. With more than 30 years experience in English language education, he is the developer of Recursive Hierarchical Recognition (RHR), a language learning theory based on cognitive neuroscience. An experienced teacher, presenter, textbook author, and former director of the Language Institute of Japan (1979~86), he has led teacher-training seminars on CALL for over 20 years and in more than 15 countries.

Thomas N. Robb, Ph.D. is a professor at Kyoto Sangyo University, where he is a member of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and chair of the General Education English Committee which is responsible for the English instruction of 3,000 students each year. He has been involved with computers and the Internet for over 40 years, and has been chair of TESOL's CALL Interest Section, as well as a founding member and past president of PacCALL. His research interests include the development of Moodle as a viable tool for language learning as well as issues surrounding the dynamics of technology implementation for language education.

Thanomporn Laohajaratsang is the director of the Information Technology Service Center and an Associate Professor of Educational Technology at the Chiang Mai University in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She has also worked as an international researcher for CARDET, an e-learning expert for UNESCO, and a consultant on public and private global learning projects and ICT-integrated learning to several national agencies such as CPF, and the Thai Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology.
