GLOCALL 2010 CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS (DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 15 SEPTEMBER)
The GLoCALL 2010 Conference (December 1-3, 2010) will bring together CALL experts, researchers and practitioners from all over the world to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. PacCALL, one of the main organizers of GLoCALL 2010, is pleased to offer full scholarships to Malaysian teachers to attend the conference, including transportation, accommodation, and a waiver of registration fees. Preference will be given to those applicants teaching in rural areas of the host country, Malaysia. The scholarships are based not only on merit, but also on the financial need of applicants. An accepted presentation is not a requirement for a scholarship award. We encourage all rural practitioners (teachers) who are using CALL to apply. Further application information is available here: http://glocall.org/course/view.php?id=50The deadline for the receipt of applications is July 31, 2010 September 15, 2010. Further information about the conference itself and the paper submission process can be found at: http://glocall.org/Please feel free to repost this message to mailing lists that might reach potential applicants. Collegially, John Brine, GLoCALL 2010 Scholarship Committee

| | The GLoCALL 2010 Conference will bring together CALL experts, researchers and practitioners from all over the world to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
One of the goals of GLoCALL 2010 is to provide opportunities for professional development to teachers who are CALL practitioners in the host country and particularly those teaching in the rural areas. The awarding of these scholarships is PacCALL’s effort towards achieving this goal.
A. Scholarship awards include:
- Return air transportation (economy class) from current place of residence (in Malaysia) to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
- Accommodation during the conference (4 nights, November 30 to December 3).
- Waiver of conference registration fees.
B. Criteria for scholarships:Each recipient must
- speak and write English fluently,
- not have sufficient funds to afford to attend GLoCALL 2010 without scholarship aid,
- be a citizen of, and current resident of, Malaysia, and
- have made a significant contribution towards the implementation or development of CALL in either research or practice.
Application for a scholarship does NOT depend on having had a presentation accepted for GLoCALL 2010. All scholarship recipients, however, will be asked to participate in one or more panel discussions or other events during the conference.
C. Required documents:Each scholarship applicant must post one (1) formatted PDF document (BELOW) which includes BOTH ( 1 and 2 ) of the following:

- what technology or systems teachers and students have access to in your school,
- the length of time you have been teaching in rural Malaysia,
- what you have tried to do with technology, what you would like to do and what you cannot do,
- how the scholarship would help to further your work, and
- how you hope to benefit from attendance at GLoCALL 2010 both professionally and socially.
3. three letters of recommendation:
- Each scholarship applicant must have three letters of recommendation sent directly by their referees by e-mail to <scholarships@glocall.org>.
- Emails must be sent from institutional email addresses.
- At least one recommendation should come from someone who has recently worked closely with you and who is familiar with your efforts in CALL and Information technology.
- The committee will prefer recommendations that come from a variety of sources, rather than all from the applicant's current educational institution.
